Hetzner Finland Helsinki AMD EPYC CPU Dedicated Server Test and Review
Today, we’re set to review the Helsinki-based Dedicated Server provided by Hetzner Finland. This powerhouse of a server is equipped with an AMD EPYC-Milan processor and boasts impressive specs: 4 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM, 160 GB SSD Storage along with a 10 Gbps Internet Port, 20 TB Traffic capacity, and one each of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
Our comprehensive analysis is structured around rigorous tests designed to gauge server performance from every angle. Starting with foundational metrics, we use the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark. These tests provide a fundamental understanding of the server’s capabilities.
Following this, we conduct an extensive network assessment using the Global Node Test, which provides insights into network stability. Plus, we evaluate latency metrics with the Global Ping Test, offering a detailed picture of potential delays or lags.
Evaluations don’t stop there – the Media Unlock Test helps us determine the server’s regional accessibility, assessing how widely it can connect in geographical terms. Connection quality is assessed via the CloudFlare Internet Test to determine if the server’s setup contributes to a smooth user experience.
Finally, we gauge web performance using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance tools. These tests give us valuable insights into load times and other browser-based performance metrics for optimizing user experience.

Admin Control Panel
Hetzner’s Cloud Console is an ingeniously designed interface that simplifies the management of your cloud servers. Below are some standout features you can anticipate:
- Server Management: The user-friendly nature of this platform allows you to select your server and securely login via the console easily. Once the server console launches, you can gain access by using your root user credentials and the root password provided in your welcome email. Should you need a new root password — say you initially set up your server with an SSH key or misplaced your password — you can effortlessly request a new one.
- Rescale Feature: Flexibility is key when it comes to resource allocation. The Cloud Console’s rescale feature makes adapting to your needs a breeze. You can upsize or downsize your CCX servers based on your current resource requirements.
- DNS Management: Managing your DNS entries need not be a complex task. Hetzner’s DNS Console is an exceptionally intuitive platform for DNS administration.
- API: Touting a RESTful API, Hetzner’s Cloud API operates securely over HTTPS and communicates using the JSON data format. It uses HTTP methods and status codes to provide clear and targeted API requests and responses.
Let’s not forget Hetzner’s System Policies, which also cover their dedicated vCPU instances. For in-depth understanding and further details, browse the comprehensive Hetzner Official Documentation.
Server Pricing
Hetzner offers a diverse range of cloud servers — virtual machines operating on high-quality physical servers. These servers underpin the execution of an operating system and various computer programs, with the physical servers in the USA and data centers in Europe. Thanks to the power of virtualization, server scalability can be adjusted to accommodate your specific needs at any time.
Hetzner’s lineup of cloud servers consists of three distinctive types:
1. Shared vCPU (x86): This variant promises the best price-performance ratio and is ideal for small to medium-traffic websites and applications that allow modifiable levels of CPU allocation. Pricing starts as low as €4.51.
2. Shared vCPU (Arm64): This presents an exciting alternative to traditional x86-based cloud servers. You can explore the remarkably powerful and sustainable Arm64 architecture at an attractive price, with rates beginning from €4.51.
3. Dedicated vCPU: This server type is perfect for business-critical applications and workloads requiring high CPU and network usage. Benefit from low latency and predictable performance starting at €14.86.
Each server type is offered in various plans, boasting different vCPUs, RAM, SSD, and Traffic provisions. For instance, the highly affordable CX11 plan in the Shared vCPU (x86) category provides 1 Intel vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB SSD, and a massive 20 TB Traffic for just €3.29 per month.
While cloud servers do not typically include public IP addresses, Hetzner enables the addition of Primary IPs for a public network interface. You can use your existing project’s Primary IPs (IPv4, IPv6) or craft a new one alongside your server.

Payments
Hetzner offers its customers a variety of flexible options for payment:
1. Credit Card: With this option, payments are conveniently and automatically deducted from your account.
2. SEPA: Take advantage of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) system for automatic deductions from your account.
3. Bank/Wire Transfer: Exercise full control over your payments with this method, enabling you to pay manually.
4. PayPal: Opt for this method if you prefer managing your payments manually through the popular digital payment service.
However, Hetzner may require bank/wire transfer payment if your invoice is overdue. If you choose to pay via a bank transfer or PayPal, you should initiate the payment promptly upon receipt of the invoice. Should automated billing fail, remember to pay through the Hetzner Accounts administration interface manually.

Conclusion
The server delivered impressive results in the I/O speed test, with an average speed of 1.43 GB/s over three tries. It also shone in internet speed tests, hitting a high of 9,236.91 Mbps in download speeds on Speedtest.net. The latency, or delay times, were competitive in places like Los Angeles, Dallas, Montreal, and Paris.
The fio Disk Speed Tests showed that the server can read and write data quickly and handle tasks involving both simultaneously. It was particularly good at working with large files, showing the server’s strength in managing big operations. Geekbench 6 tests gave single and multi-core scores of 1559 and 3644, highlighting the server’s powerful performance.
UnixBench tests, which look at CPU performance, revealed higher-than-average results in all areas tested. The server did especially well in running shell scripts and copying files. It scored 2338.3 in tests using one CPU core and 5243.5 with all four cores active, showing it can do well under pressure.
In summary, Hetzner Finland’s Helsinki-based dedicated server, with its AMD EPYC-Milan processor and high-spec setup, showed excellent performance across the board. It proved it could handle various tasks swiftly and reliably, making it a great choice for anyone needing a strong server for heavy workloads.
