Leafcloud Netherlands North Brabant Intel Xeon E312xx Cloud Instance Test and Review

We’ve tested the Leafcloud Netherlands North Brabant cc1.medium Cloud Instance. This server sports an Intel Xeon E312xx (Sandy Bridge, with an IBRS update) Processor, supported by 2 CPU Cores, armed with 4 GB RAM and 20 GB SSD Storage. The offering also includes 100 GB/mo of free traffic and one IPv4 and one IPv6.

Value machines at the core

Instance flavors with less RAM are good for compute-heavy workloads. These instances will run at our core infrastructure site and have the highest single-instance availability but less energy-saving potential.

Our rigorous examination entails a battery of demanding tests: We’ll kick things off with the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark, allowing us to measure pivotal performance metrics. Moving onwards, the comprehensive Global Node Test will provide an extensive network landscape, while the Global Ping Test stands ready to gauge latency intricacies.

With the Media Unlock Test, we’ll ascertain regional accessibility prerequisites. The CloudFlare Internet Test will shed light on the quality of the connection. Additionally, we’ll dive into web performance by employing analytical tools such as PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance.

About Leafcloud

Leafcloud is a European cloud hosting provider that offers a range of services, including computing and GPU, storage, networking, and more. The company is based in the Netherlands and is focused on providing sustainable and environmentally friendly cloud services. Leafcloud claims to be up to 10 times more energy efficient than a typical data center because they reuse the heat their servers produce. This not only saves energy but also reduces overall carbon emissions.

Leafcloud offers a variety of server options for different use cases. They have normal (balanced) machine types suitable for general-purpose computing and CPU-optimized machine types for compute-heavy workloads. Their server instances start at €6.98 per month, and they also offer GPU instances with Nvidia V100 GPUs starting at €1.47 per hour.

In addition to its server options, Leafcloud offers object storage compatible with the S3 industry standard. This is great for storing all sorts of documents without managing servers.

Leafcloud’s website provides helpful information for beginners and professionals who want to use their services. They have a section on their website dedicated to using cases that feature some ways their green cloud can work for you. For example, they discuss how you can leverage Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos, and similar orchestration platforms to manage your workloads and exploit the full potential of their platform.
