LunaNode Canada Toronto Intel Core General Purpose Virtual Machine Test and Review
This time, we’re testing the LunaNode Virtual Private Server (VPS) in Toronto, Canada. It’s a general-purpose machine loaded with a fancy Intel Core Processor. This isn’t your average setup; it comes with 6 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, and 70 GB of SSD storage. Plus, you get 3 TB of data to move around and both an IPv4 and IPv6 address.
We’re putting this server through its paces with many tests, starting with the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark to check out important metrics. Then, we’re going wide with the Global Node Test to see how the network holds up and checking how fast it is with the Global Ping Test.
But that’s not all. We’ll also see how it handles content from different regions with the Media Unlock Test, test its connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test, and look into web performance with PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance tools.
About LunaNode
LunaNode is a Canadian company founded in 2013 that offers VPS hosting products. They have data centers in Canada now. LunaNode offers three types of virtual machines: General-Purpose, Memory-Optimized, and Compute-Optimized. Each type has different pricing, RAM, virtual cores, SSD storage, and bandwidth.
LunaNode has received several awards for its VPS hosting services, including 3rd Best VPS 2021 under $10 (old revision), 2nd Best Value February 2020, and 3rd Best Value April 2020. Conclusion
Upon evaluating the I/O speed, we noted incremental improvements across three tests, reflecting an average I/O of 186.0 MB/s. From these results, we can attest to consistent delivery and potential agility in environments requiring frequent data transfer.
Speed tests were carried out in multiple global locations, such as Los Angeles, Dallas, Montreal, Paris, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo, with the fastest uploads and downloads occurring in Dallas, US, and Paris, FR, respectively.
Regarding mixed Read/Write speed tests, disc performance showcased high-speed processing and data adjustment. Specifically, the 4k IOPS reached up to 101.9k with a total speed of 407.92 MB/s, and the 1m IOPS delivered a high total speed of 444.82 MB/s. Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test indicated single-core and multi-core scores of 942 and 4017, respectively, shedding light on the server’s optimized processing performance.
The UnixBench CPU Performance benchmark highlighted a balanced performance across multiple metrics. The test was split into two runs, with one parallel copy of tests in the first and six parallel copies in the second run. The Dhrystone 2 test showed high Integer arithmetic performance, while the Execl Throughput and Shell Scripts tests reflected efficient execution of processes. Notably, File Copy tests expressed high transfer rates, indicating robust I/O operations.
In conclusion, the LunaNode Virtual Private Server exhibited a well-rounded performance. Across varying test scopes and scales, the machine demonstrated efficient data transfer rates, robust I/O operations, and commendable processor performance.
