Cloudfanatic United States Chicago AMD EPYC 7502 10Gbps NVME Cloud VPS Test and Review
Let’s dive into our review of the Cloudfanatic Chicago-based Cloud VPS server. AMD EPYC 7502 32-core processor powers this server. Here’s the setup we’re working with: an 8-core CPU, 16 GB of memory, 150 GB on a fast SSD, a swift 10 Gbps internet connection, and unmetered bandwidth (Fair Use). Plus, it includes one IPv4 and one IPv6 address.
Our tests are pretty comprehensive. We’re starting with some basic benchmarks to see how this server performs on everyday tasks. Next, we’re running Yabs and Unix Benchmark to get into the technical nitty-gritty. Network strength? We’re on it with a thorough global network test. We’ll also measure how quickly the server responds to a ping from different locations worldwide.
We’re not just sticking to the nuts and bolts, though. We also want to see if this server can play nice with various media, so we’re putting it through a media accessibility check. Connection quality is up next, and it was tested through CloudFlare. Finally, we’re looking at how fast this server delivers web content using tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance. Stay tuned for the results!

Conclusion
Starting with the basics, the server showed I/O speeds averaging 157.7 MB/s, which, while not in the poor range, doesn’t quite hit the “good” mark. Upload and download speeds were stellar across different nodes, though, peaking with over 5 Gbps on Speedtest.net, albeit with some variation internationally, which is to be expected due to distance and connectivity factors. The latency was low in nearby locations but, as anticipated, increased with farther away nodes.
The Yabs performance test revealed that the server handles a mix of reading and writing tasks quite adeptly. It clocked at over 500 MB/s for mixed read/write operations and impressively crossed the 1 GB/s threshold for larger block sizes, planting it firmly in the “excellent” category for I/O speed. As for processing muscle, the Geekbench 6 tests presented a single-core score of 925 and a multi-core score of 4924. The single-core score falls short of the “good” range, indicating that while capable, it might struggle with highly intensive single-threaded tasks.
The UnixBench scores wrapped up our assessment with a grand system index score of 4230.6 when running on all 8 cores, which showcases this server’s great potential in multi-tasking and handling concurrent operations, thanks to its multicore setup.
In conclusion, Cloudfanatic’s VPS server indeed has its highs and lows. The I/O speeds under basic benchmarking didn’t impress much as we’d hoped. Still, the server shines brilliantly when pushed in high-intensity scenarios, as evidenced by the Yabs and UnixBench tests. It holds its own in terms of network performance with varying results globally, which is common. With consistent local performance and outstanding multitasking abilities, it’s well-suited for businesses looking for a VPS that can handle diverse workloads efficiently.
