Equinix UK Manchester Intel Xeon E-2378G Bare Metal Cloud Server Test and Review

We recently tested the Equinix UK Manchester Bare Metal Cloud Server (Plan: m3.small.x86). This server runs on an Intel Xeon E-2378G 8-core processor at 2.80GHz and comes with 64 GB of RAM. It includes two 480GB SSDs, two 25Gbps internet ports, and an Intel UHD Graphics P750, making it a powerful option for various hosting needs.

In our review, we ran several tests to evaluate its performance. We used Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark to measure speed and efficiency. The Global Node Test checked network speeds from different locations, and the Global Ping Test measured latency. We also performed the Media Unlock Test to ensure media access, the CloudFlare Internet Test to assess connection quality and checked web performance with PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion

In our Basic Benchmark test, the server achieved an average I/O speed of 418 MB/s. While this is decent, it falls slightly below the “good” threshold of 500 MB/s. However, the upload and download speeds across different global nodes were impressive, especially in locations like Amsterdam and Los Angeles, where speeds exceeded 5,000 Mbps. Latency was low in key regions, ensuring quick data transmission.

The Yabs Performance Bench showed strong disk speeds, with read and write speeds reaching up to 299 MB/s and 443 MB/s respectively in some tests. These results indicate reliable performance for tasks that require fast data access and storage. Additionally, the Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test scored an excellent 2471 in single-core performance and 9941 in multi-core performance, highlighting the server’s ability to handle both single-threaded and multi-threaded applications efficiently.

UnixBench results further confirmed the server’s robust performance. The system benchmarks index scores improved significantly when running multiple parallel tests, demonstrating the server’s capability to manage high workloads and multiple processes without slowing down.
