Conclusion

The AMD EPYC Rome processor core delivered a respectable performance. In our Geekbench 6 benchmark, it achieved a single-core score of 1006 and a multi-core score of 1199. While just one core, these results suggest it can comfortably handle typical workloads for small websites, blogs, or development environments. The server uses KVM virtualization, a standard and reliable choice.

Where this VPS impressed us was its disk speed. The NVMe SSD lived up to the “Lightning-fast” name in the plan description. Our tests, particularly using Fio, showed extremely fast read and write speeds, reaching multiple gigabytes per second for larger file operations. This rapid disk access is fantastic for database-driven applications or any task that frequently reads or writes data.

On the network side, the results were mixed. The server worked well for accessing Hungarian Netflix, YouTube Premium, Amazon Prime Video, and even ChatGPT. However, we found services like Disney+ and Dazn blocked the IP address. Our IP quality checks confirmed it’s a hosting/data center IP, which is expected, but it carried some flags that might cause issues with stricter services. Email port tests also showed some limitations in connecting to providers like Gmail and Outlook, though many standard ports were open.

In short, the ATW.hu 1 vCore AMD EPYC Rome VPS offers solid CPU performance and truly excellent NVMe disk speeds for its category and price. It’s a strong contender if you need fast storage for projects hosted in Hungary. Just be aware that the IP address might have limitations for certain streaming services or strict platforms due to its data center origin.
