Dedi Rock United States New York Intel Xeon E5-2697 Promo KVM VPS Test and Review

We recently tested the Dedi Rock Promo VPS Saver plan. This budget-friendly KVM VPS in New York offers a single Intel Xeon E5 core, 1GB of RAM (though our tests showed closer to 366MB readily available), and 10GB of SSD storage on a 1Gbps port. Right away, we noticed the limited memory caused issues, preventing the latest Geekbench 6 benchmark from even running. This tells us the server might struggle with memory-hungry applications right out of the box.

Conclusion
Looking at CPU performance using older benchmarks (Geekbench 4 and 5), the single Xeon E5 core delivered modest results. The scores (around 350-380 on GB5, 1500-1600 on GB4) suggest this VPS handles basic, single-threaded tasks adequately but isn’t built for heavy computing. While the RAM speed tests showed decent throughput when reading and writing data, the small amount of available RAM remains the main performance bottleneck for multitasking or demanding software.
Disk performance on the SSD was a mixed bag. We saw good speeds when reading and writing large, sequential files (reaching up to 506 MB/s write and 894 MB/s read in some tests). However, performance with small, random files (4K block tests) was much slower, around 23-27 MB/s. This means loading lots of small website files or database operations might feel sluggish. Network speed tests also showed inconsistent results, often failing to connect or showing speeds far below the server’s 1Gbps port capability, suggesting potential network congestion or throttling.
Beyond raw performance, the server’s IP address raised some concerns. It failed most streaming service checks (like Dazn and Disney+) and only allowed Netflix Originals. More importantly, IP quality checks revealed a high fraud score and flags for being a proxy or VPN, along with some DNS blacklist entries. This poor reputation blocked access to sites like Reddit and prevented Google from searching without CAPTCHAs. Furthermore, many standard email ports were blocked to major providers like Gmail and Outlook, making this server unsuitable for sending emails reliably.
Overall, the Dedi Rock Promo VPS Saver plan offers basic computing resources at a low price point. However, its very limited usable RAM, inconsistent network speeds, and poor IP reputation significantly restrict its use cases. It might suit simple testing, development environments, or perhaps a personal VPN (if you can tolerate the IP issues), but we wouldn’t recommend it for hosting websites, running applications requiring moderate resources, reliable streaming, or sending emails.
