Conclusion

The single AMD EPYC TURIN core delivered respectable processing power, scoring around 1500 points in the Geekbench 6 single-core benchmark. As you’d expect with just one core assigned, the multi-core score mirrored this closely. We also tested the RAM and found it performed very well, showing impressively fast read and write speeds that should handle typical application memory needs without breaking a sweat.

Where this little server truly surprised us was its disk performance. Our tests recorded blazing-fast read and write speeds, often reaching multiple gigabytes per second, along with very high IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second). This indicates ComputeBox uses high-quality NVMe storage even on their entry-level plan, which is fantastic news for anyone running databases or websites that frequently access the disk. Network speeds were also excellent, particularly to nearby European locations, where we clocked multi-gigabit speeds during burst tests.

On the practical side, the server worked well for accessing German streaming content like Netflix and Disney+ and even allowed access to ChatGPT. The IP address appears generally clean, though some specialized databases flagged it with moderate risk scores or identified it as potentially belonging to a hosting/proxy range, which sometimes causes issues like Google CAPTCHAs. Standard email sending ports (like SMTP port 25) seem open, but connections to secure ports on many external mail providers (like Gmail or Outlook) are blocked, which is common practice for hosts to prevent spam but something to note if you plan heavy email use.

The ComputeBox Nano plan delivers impressive bang for your buck. You get strong single-core CPU performance from a modern EPYC chip, exceptionally fast NVMe storage that exceeds its price point, and great network connectivity, especially within Europe. While the IP reputation isn’t perfect and email sending has standard hosting limitations, it’s a very compelling option for users needing high disk I/O and solid compute power on a tight budget in a German location.
