This server uses an Intel Xeon Platinum processor, and it comes with 1GB of RAM, a 20GB SSD, a 200 Mbps internet connection, and 500GB of monthly data transfer. It also includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. We wanted to see how this low-cost option stacks up in real-world conditions.

Conclusion
Our initial tests focused on the basics. We confirmed the server runs Debian 11 and uses KVM virtualization. The server showed good uptime, and the system load was low, indicating it wasn’t under heavy stress. We also verified that AES-NI encryption is enabled, which is good for the security and performance of encrypted connections. However, virtualization extensions (VM-x/AMD-V) are disabled, which could limit the ability to run certain types of virtual machines within this VPS.
Next, we moved on to performance benchmarks. Unfortunately, the 1GB of RAM proved to be a bottleneck. Geekbench 6 and Geekbench 5 tests failed due to insufficient memory. Geekbench 4 did run, giving a single-core score of 2705 and a multi-core score of 2666. These scores are modest, as expected for a single-core, low-RAM configuration. RAM read/write speeds were decent, clocking in around 3079 MB/s for reads and 2967 MB/s for writes.
Disk I/O performance was a mixed bag. While the 1GB block size dd test showed respectable speeds (232 MB/s write, 209 MB/s read), the 4K block size tests, which are more representative of real-world server workloads, were significantly slower (around 20-28 MB/s). The Fio tests confirmed this, showing lower IOPS for smaller block sizes. Network speed tests using iperf3 were good, consistently hitting the advertised 200 Mbps limit across various global locations. The server also showed good streaming service compatibility, unlocking US-based content for Netflix, YouTube Premium, and Amazon Prime Video.
Finally, IP quality checks revealed the IP address is flagged as belonging to a hosting provider, which is expected. Some databases also flagged it as a potential VPN/proxy, and it had a high fraud score on a couple of databases, which could be a concern for some applications. Email port tests showed that while the server itself can connect to common email ports, many popular email providers block connections from the server’s IP, likely due to its hosting provider status.
The CLAWCLOUD $3 VPS offers basic functionality at a very low price. While its limited RAM restricts benchmark performance and may impact resource-intensive applications, it delivers acceptable network speeds and decent disk speeds for larger file transfers. It’s best suited for lightweight tasks like hosting a small website, a personal blog, or a simple development environment, where high performance isn’t the top priority. If you need to run memory-intensive applications or require a pristine IP reputation, you’ll likely need to consider a higher-tier plan.
