Conclusion
Benchmark results painted a mixed picture. Memory performance was a definite highlight, boasting impressive read and write speeds exceeding 10GB/s and 7GB/s, respectively. Disk speeds were also quite good, especially when handling larger files. However, as measured by Geekbench 6, the CPU performance was modest, scoring 555 single-core and 953 multi-core.
Network performance was generally strong. We achieved gigabit speeds when testing against a US server, but speeds fluctuated when connecting to other locations. IPv6 performance was inconsistent, with some tests showing network congestion. Streaming services presented a mixed bag as well. Netflix access was limited to original content, while Prime Video and YouTube performed without issues.
One area of concern was the server’s IP reputation. Several tests flagged the IP address due to its association with hosting services, raising potential issues for email deliverability or website accessibility. However, we confirmed that standard email ports functioned correctly.
In conclusion, RareCloud’s Silicon Valley DIY VPS offers a decent value proposition for its price. Its strengths lie in its fast memory, disk performance, and generally quick network connection. However, users should be aware of the modest CPU power and the potential challenges posed by the IP reputation. This VPS might be a good fit for users prioritizing memory and storage speed on a budget, but less suitable for CPU-intensive tasks or applications requiring a pristine IP address.
