Conclusion

We put the OneProvider Italy Florence OneCloud General Purpose plan ($15/month) through its paces. This AMD EPYC-powered server boasts 2 cores, 4GB of RAM, a 20GB SSD, a 1Gbps port, and a 3TB monthly traffic allowance. Our initial tests revealed a Debian 11 operating system, a solid CPU clock speed nearing 3GHz, and confirmed AES-NI encryption support. However, virtualization (VM-x/AMD-V) was disabled. The server showed a small amount of RAM and disk space used upon initial boot, indicating a relatively lean OS installation.

Geekbench 6 results pegged the single-core score at 1706 and the multi-core score at 3055, placing it in the entry-level range for modern processors. Memory tests showed decent read/write speeds, averaging around 48GB/s and 24GB/s respectively in a quick test, and around 7.4GB/s and 6.2GB/s respectively in a more sustained test. Disk performance, as measured by Fio, delivered an average speed of 1.7GB/s, with impressive results when using larger block sizes, reaching up to 3.6GB/s.

Network testing revealed a fast 1Gbps connection, as expected. Speedtest.net registered impressive upload and download speeds exceeding 8Gbps and 9Gbps respectively, likely due to server proximity. Tests against other global locations showed variable results, with excellent speeds to European locations and lower speeds to Asian locations. This highlights the importance of geographic proximity for optimal network performance.

Streaming service accessibility presented a mixed bag. While YouTube Premium, Amazon Prime Video, and TVBAnywhere+ worked seamlessly, Disney+ access was blocked, and Netflix was limited to original content. Dazn was inaccessible. Other tests confirmed the server’s location in Italy for most services, with a few anomalies like a Canadian Google Play Store and YouTube Premium region.

In conclusion, the OneProvider Florence OneCloud General Purpose plan offers decent performance for its price point, particularly in disk and network speed. The CPU performance is suitable for basic tasks, but users requiring significant processing power might need to consider a higher-tier plan. The mixed results in streaming service access warrant consideration depending on user needs.
