Conclusion
We started by measuring the server’s storage performance. Across three tests, the SSD delivered excellent I/O speeds, averaging 742.7 MB/s. This indicates fast read/write performance, crucial for applications requiring quick data access.
Next, we used Geekbench 6 to evaluate processing power. The server achieved a single-core score of 768 and a multi-core score of 1356. While the multi-core score is decent, the single-core performance falls within the standard range, suggesting adequate performance for everyday tasks, but potentially limited power for demanding single-threaded applications. The YABS benchmark was completed in a reasonable time of 11 minutes and 2 seconds.
Finally, we examined network performance using a global node test. The results showed strong speeds to Asian locations, particularly Singapore and Tokyo, indicating excellent regional connectivity. Performance in North America and Europe was more mixed, with some locations exhibiting good speeds while others lagged. The connection to the CacheFly CDN was notably fast.
In conclusion, the HostVDS Hong Kong server offers good value for its price. Its storage and regional network performance are strong points. However, users requiring high single-core processing power or consistently fast connections to North America or Europe might need to consider alternative options.
