Octopus Web Solution Cambodia Phnom Penh Intel Xeon Virtual Machine Test and Review
We recently tested the Octopus Web Solution Cambodia Phnom Penh Virtual Machine (Plan: 2C-2G). The server is powered by an Intel Xeon Processor (Skylake, IBRS) and has the following configuration: 2 Cores CPU/2 GB RAM/40 GB Disk/1 Gbps Internet Port/4 TB Traffic/1x IPv4 Address.
Our review includes various tests: the Basic Benchmark, and Yabs for performance metrics, the Global Node Test for different location network speeds, and the Global Ping Test for latency measurement. We also use The Media Unlock Test for media accessibility, the CloudFlare Internet Test for connection quality, and web performance evaluations via PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
Our tests focused on I/O speeds, network performance, and processing power using a combination of basic benchmarks and the Yabs benchmark tool. Disk performance, as measured by I/O speed, consistently hovered around 98.5 MB/s. This falls below the 200 MB/s threshold we consider acceptable for decent website performance, indicating a potential bottleneck for websites hosted on this plan.
Network connectivity, however, painted a brighter picture. The 1 Gbps port was delivered as promised, with download speeds exceeding 900 Mbps in most of our tests across various global locations. Upload speeds also reached a respectable 1000 Mbps in our primary test location. This strong network performance suggests the server can handle a good amount of traffic without significant slowdowns.
Yabs benchmark results further detailed disk performance, breaking down read and write speeds for different block sizes. While larger block sizes showed improved speeds approaching 100 MB/s, the smaller 4k block size performance remained significantly lower. This is important because smaller files, often accessed frequently on websites, would be affected by this slower performance. Unfortunately, the Geekbench 6 test, designed to evaluate processor performance, failed to complete, leaving us without crucial data on the server’s processing capabilities.
Finally, our testing revealed a mixed bag for the Octopus Web Solutions 2C-2G plan. While network performance appears robust, the consistently low disk I/O speed raises concerns about overall website responsiveness. The inability to complete the Geekbench test prevents a full assessment of the server’s processing power. For users anticipating significant disk activity or requiring robust processing, further investigation and potentially a higher-tier plan might be necessary.
