DigitalOcean Singapore Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 Dedicated CPU-Optimized Droplets Test and Review
We put DigitalOcean‘s $42/month Singapore Dedicated CPU-Optimized Droplet to the test. This server packs an Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 CPU @ 2.70GHz, with 2 cores, 4GB RAM, 25GB SSD storage, a 1Gbps port, 4TB monthly traffic, and one IPv4 address.
We ran many tests, including benchmarks with Yabs, global network speed tests, ping tests to measure latency, and media streaming checks. We also tested connection quality with CloudFlare and website performance with PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
Our disk speed tests revealed good performance. Averaging 524.3 MB/s in sequential read/write speeds, the SSD comfortably handles typical website file operations. The Yabs benchmark further confirmed this, showing consistent speeds across various block sizes, peaking at over 600 MB/s for 1MB blocks. This suggests the storage can manage larger file transfers efficiently.
Network performance was a highlight. The Singapore location delivered excellent speeds to nearby Asian regions, with Hong Kong and Tokyo showing especially low latency. While transatlantic speeds were understandably slower, they remained respectable, indicating suitable performance for serving a global audience.
