DigitalOcean Netherlands Amsterdam Dedicated CPU-Optimized Droplets Test and Review
We recently tested DigitalOcean‘s Dedicated CPU-optimized droplets in Amsterdam, Netherlands, priced at $42 monthly. This server runs on an Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 CPU @ 2.70GHz with 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 25 GB SSD storage, a 1 Gbps internet port, 4 TB of traffic, and one IPv4 address.
Our review covers several tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance, Global Node Test for network speeds from different locations, and Global Ping Test for latency. We also check media access with The Media Unlock Test, connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test, and web performance using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
In our Basic Benchmark test, the I/O speed averaged 318.3 MB/s, which is good. Upload speeds reached 1984.43 Mbps in Amsterdam, while download speeds peaked at 8306.04 Mbps on Speedtest.net. Latency was impressively low at 0.50 ms locally, though it increased with distance, reaching 256.34 ms in Shanghai.
The Yabs Performance Bench showed mixed results, with disk read and write speeds averaging 75.29 MB/s for 4k blocks and 327.55 MB/s for 1m blocks. These speeds are adequate for most tasks but could be improved for more demanding applications.
In the Geekbench 6 test, the server scored 1168 for single-core and 1377 for multi-core performance, which is suitable for many applications. The UnixBench results highlighted strong CPU performance, with scores reflecting efficient processing capabilities.
In conclusion, DigitalOcean’s dedicated CPU-optimized droplets offer solid performance at a price, with good I/O speeds and reliable network performance. This makes them a great choice for users seeking a balance between cost and capability.
