Hostman United States New York Unlimited Traffic Scalable Cloud Server Test and Review
We recently tested the Hostman cloud server based in New York, priced at $6.00 per month. It runs on a QEMU Virtual CPU (version 4.2.0) and offers 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, an 80 GB NVMe disk, a 200 Mbps internet port, and one IPv4 address.
Our review included several tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance, Global Node Test for network speeds across locations, and Global Ping Test for latency. Conclusion
The server displayed good I/O speed in the Basic Benchmark, averaging 686.7 MB/s, well above the 500 MB/s mark considered good. Network speeds were consistent across various locations, with most US and European cities reaching close to the 200 Mbps limit. However, speeds dropped significantly in Asian locations like Chongqing and Hong Kong, which is something to consider if you have a global audience.
The Yabs Performance Bench further confirmed the server’s strong disk performance. It achieved a total disk speed of 2.61 GB/s for 512k blocks and 2.56 GB/s for 1m blocks, indicating excellent read and write capabilities. This performance is ideal for applications that require fast data access.
