Zenlayer Peru Lima Intel Xeon General-Purpose Virtual Machine Test and Review

We recently tested the Zenlayer Peru Lima General-Purpose Virtual Machine (Plan: g.2c8g). The server runs on an Intel Xeon Processor (Icelake) and has the following specs: 2 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB standard disk, 1 Gbps internet port, and 1 IPv4 address.

Our review covers several tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance metrics, Global Node Test for network speeds from different locations, and Global Ping Test for latency. We also check media accessibility with The Media Unlock Test, connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test, and web performance using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

About Zenlayer

Zenlayer offers a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of businesses. One of their standout offerings is their hyperconnected cloud. This service allows businesses to deploy and run applications on a cloud platform that reaches 85% of internet users in less than 25 milliseconds. This means faster application performance and a better user experience for customers worldwide.

In addition to their hyperconnected cloud, Zenlayer provides bare metal servers. These are 100% dedicated servers with high-performance Intel® Xeon® processors. Businesses can benefit from the power and reliability of these servers, ensuring their applications run smoothly and efficiently. For those looking for a more scalable and affordable option, Zenlayer also offers virtual machines. These virtual machines can be customized to meet specific needs and scale on demand.

One of the key advantages of Zenlayer is its global network. With over 300 edge nodes and 10,000+ global peers, Zenlayer’s network is optimized for low-latency delivery. Data can be transmitted quickly and efficiently, reducing lag and improving overall performance. Businesses can also use Zenlayer’s private global network, which avoids public internet congestion and provides a more secure and reliable connection.

Zenlayer’s services are not limited to just hosting. They also offer a range of networking solutions. For example, their multi-cloud networking service allows businesses to move workloads in real-time and create seamless multi-cloud networks. This is particularly useful for businesses that operate in multiple regions and need to ensure their applications are always available and performing at their best.

Conclusion

We tested the Zenlayer Peru Lima General-Purpose Virtual Machine (Plan: g.2c8g), which runs on an Intel Xeon Processor (Icelake) with 2 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB standard disk, 1 Gbps internet port, and 1 IPv4 address. The Basic Bench test revealed an average I/O speed of 153.3 MB/s, which is considered poor. However, the server showed impressive download speeds, reaching up to 1263.30 Mbps in some locations.

The Yabs Performance Bench showed mixed results. The disk speed tests indicated moderate performance, with total IOPS ranging from 190 to 3.9k across different block sizes. The Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test returned a single-core score of 1349 and a multi-core score of 2438, which is considered good for this server type.

The UnixBench test, which measures CPU performance, significantly improved when running parallel tests. The single-core test resulted in a System Benchmarks Index Score of 1798.2, while the dual-core test improved to 2808.0. This indicates that the server performs well under multi-threaded workloads.

In conclusion, the Zenlayer Peru Lima General-Purpose Virtual Machine shows mixed performance. While its I/O speed is below average, it excels in download speeds and CPU performance, especially in multi-threaded scenarios. This server would suit applications with good CPU performance and high download speeds but might struggle with I/O-intensive tasks. Consider your specific needs when deciding if this server is right for your project.
