We recently tested the Fotbo Netherlands Unmanaged Cheap Cloud VPS Server (Plan: VPS Basic). The server is powered by an Intel Xeon Processor (Cascadelake), with the following configuration: 4 Cores CPU/8 GB RAM/160 GB SSD Storage/1 Gbps Internet Port/1x IPv4 and 1x IPv6 Address.
Our review includes various tests: the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance metrics, the Global Node Test for different location network speeds, and the Global Ping Test for latency measurement. Conclusion
In our Basic Benchmark tests, the server showed impressive I/O speeds, averaging 818.3 MB/s, well above the 500 MB/s threshold for good performance. Upload and download speeds were also robust, with the highest speeds recorded in Amsterdam, where both upload and download speeds exceeded 1 Gbps. Other global locations, including Los Angeles, Dallas, and Mumbai, also demonstrated strong network performance, though speeds varied.
The Yabs Performance Bench provided detailed insights into disk speed. The server delivered mixed read/write speeds that were satisfactory, with 4k block size speeds at around 992 KB/s and 1m block size speeds at about 136.26 MB/s. These results indicate decent performance for both small and large data transfers.
For CPU performance, the Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test gave us a single-core score of 991 and a multi-core score of 1730. These scores suggest standard performance for single-core tasks and good performance for multi-core tasks. The UnixBench results further confirmed this, with high scores in various metrics like Dhrystone and File Copy tests, indicating strong overall CPU capabilities.
