SurferCloud China Hong Kong UHost Intel Xeon Cloud Server Test and Review
We recently tested the SurferCloud China Hong Kong UHost Cloud Server. This server runs on an Intel Xeon Processor (Cascadelake) and has the following specs: 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD storage, a 5 Mbps internet port, and 1 IPv4 address.
Our review covers several tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance, Global Node Test for network speeds across different locations, and Global Ping Test for latency. We also check media accessibility with The Media Unlock Test, connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test, and web performance using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
In our Basic Benchmark test, the server’s I/O speed averaged 139 MB/s, below the acceptable threshold for good performance. Upload speeds varied, peaking at 5.17 Mbps, while download speeds reached 102.92 Mbps. Latency was impressively low within Hong Kong at 1.36 ms but increased significantly for international locations.
The Yabs performance test showed mixed results. The read and write speeds for smaller block sizes were modest, with total speeds of 11.35 MB/s for 4k blocks and 135 MB/s for 64k blocks. Larger block sizes performed better, with total speeds of around 134 MB/s for 512k and 1m blocks.
The Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test highlighted the server’s strong CPU performance. It scored 1155 for single-core and 2226 for multi-core, indicating good performance in both categories. The UnixBench results further confirmed this, with high scores across various tests, particularly in file copy and shell script performance.
In conclusion, the SurferCloud China Hong Kong UHost Cloud Server offers solid CPU performance, making it suitable for compute-intensive tasks. However, its I/O speed is below par, which might affect tasks requiring fast read/write operations. This server is a viable option for users prioritizing CPU performance over I/O speed.
