We tested the VMHaus Netherlands Amsterdam Hourly Billing SSD Cloud Server (Plan: VMH-4GB). It runs on an Intel Xeon E312xx (Sandy Bridge) Processor and offers 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD storage, a 1 Gbps internet port, 8 TB of traffic, and both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Our review covers several tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for performance, Global Node Test for network speed across locations, and Global Ping Test for latency. Conclusion

In our Basic Benchmark tests, the server’s I/O speed averaged 359.7 MB/s, which is decent but could be better. The upload and download speeds were impressive, especially in Amsterdam, where it hit 2868.36 Mbps for upload and 5191.85 Mbps for download. Latency was low locally but higher for distant locations like Shanghai and Tokyo.

The Yabs Performance Bench showed mixed results. While the total disk speed for larger block sizes exceeded 500 MB/s, indicating good performance, smaller ones were slower. This suggests the server handles larger data transfers well but may struggle with smaller, more frequent operations.

The Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test revealed that the server’s single-core performance scored 291, below standard, while the multi-core score of 938 was better but still not exceptional. The UnixBench results varied, with some tests like Dhrystone 2 and Shell Scripts showing strong performance, but others like Pipe-based Context Switching were weaker.

In conclusion, the VMHaus server offers reliable network speeds and decent multi-core performance, but its single-core capabilities and I/O speed could improve. It’s a solid choice for tasks that require high data transfer rates, but those needing strong single-core performance might want to explore other options.
