OneQode Hong Kong Latency Optimized High Performance Cloud Server Test and Review
We recently tested OneQode‘s High-Performance Cloud Server in Hong Kong (Plan: xer.medium). This server uses an Intel Core Processor (Skylake, IBRS) along with 2 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM, 76 GB of SSD storage, and a 1 Gbps internet port. It offers 10 TB of monthly traffic and a single IPv4 address.
Our review covers several performance tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark for overall performance, the Global Node Test for network speeds at different locations, and the Global Ping Test for latency. We also check media access with The Media Unlock Test, assess connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test, and evaluate website performance using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.
About OneQode
OneQode, an Asia-Pacific-based company, has carved a niche for itself in the field of low-latency digital infrastructure. They’ve designed their services specifically focusing on gaming and real-time applications.
Let’s start with the heart of OneQode – its high-performance cloud platform. OneQode Cloud Services (OCS) platform is the backbone of their offerings. OCS hosts and delivers games, real-time applications, and compute-intensive services to users across three continents.
OneQode’s cloud servers are nothing short of lightning-fast. They’re perfect for gaming, transcoding, and real-time apps. These servers operate on high clock speeds, allowing them to handle compute-intensive workloads, high tick-rate game servers, and real-time applications.
OneQode ensures you get the best performance from dedicated CPU threads without overprovisioning. This means you have all the resources to yourself, with no one else sharing them.
Another unique aspect of OneQode is its OpenStack-powered platform. Built on an open-source foundation, the platform boasts an OpenStack-compatible API. This gives you access to resources from a vast developer community.

OneQode’s Cloud Admin Control Panel provides a comprehensive suite of tools to manage and control your instances. It’s user-friendly, powerful, and designed to give you complete control over your cloud environment.
Server Pricing
Official Website: https://www.OneQode.com
Payments
First and foremost, OneQode operates on a transparent pricing model. This means that the cost of their services is the same in every location. They offer a flat pricing structure, which includes a fast 1 Gbps port speed and 10 TB of data transfer.
OneQode’s pricing is in USD, including tax. They offer both pre-paid and post-paid options. The billing is done hourly, which means you only pay for the hours you use.
OneQode’s pricing model treats data ingress and egress the same. This makes it easy to calculate costs. Each month, you get 10TB of account-wide data transfer in their free tier.
Data pricing follows a tiered model. The first 10 TB of data transfer is free. The next 10 TB costs $1.00 per TB1, and any data transfer above 20 TB costs $5.00 per TB.
Storage for OS images and instance snapshots is charged at $0.15 per GB per month. You can attach block storage to one or more instances for $0.10 per GB per month. All data is replicated three times across three locations.
OneQode also offers S3-compatible storage that is ideal for large media. This object storage is charged at $0.025 per GB per month.
Each instance comes with one ephemeral IP address. When you reboot an instance, your IP address may change. If you need a floating IP address, it will cost $0.009 per hour or $6.57 per month.

Customer Support
OneQode offers multiple channels for customer support. You can contact their friendly team via their contact form or directly contact one of their team members.
You can send a ticket from within the platform if you’re a OneQode Cloud Services (OCS) user. This is a convenient way to raise any issues or queries about their services.
In addition to these direct contact methods, OneQode also provides comprehensive documentation. This is a valuable resource for users to understand the platform and its features. The documentation covers many topics, from getting started with OneQode Cloud to detailed API overviews.
Moreover, OneQode’s contact page provides their address, ABN, and Carrier Licence details. This transparency allows customers to have confidence in the company.
Conclusion
Our basic benchmark tests revealed an average I/O speed of 108.7 MB/s, which is notably low. The upload and download speeds were impressive at various locations, with local speeds in Hong Kong hitting 926.50 Mbps and 926.72 Mbps, respectively. However, speeds decreased significantly for distant locations like Amsterdam and Chongqing.
In the Yabs performance benchmark, the disk speeds were moderate, with total read/write speeds of 62.92 MB/s for 4k blocks and reaching up to 217.88 MB/s for 64k blocks. Geekbench 6 results were solid, with a single-core score of 1720 and a multi-core score of 3106, indicating good performance overall.
UnixBench results showed strong performance, especially in multi-core tests. For instance, the Dhrystone and Whetstone benchmarks scored extremely high, suggesting efficient integer and floating-point operations handling. File copy speeds and pipe throughput also performed well, improving the server’s robustness.
In summary, OneQode’s Cloud Server delivers solid multi-core performance and excellent network speeds locally. However, the low I/O speed could be a bottleneck for applications requiring fast disk access. This server is dependable for high-demand workloads, especially where network performance is critical.
