OneProvider Belgium Brussels AMD EPYC General Purpose Instance Test and Review
We recently put the OneProvider General Purpose Instance in Brussels through intensive tests to gauge its performance across various benchmarks. This server, equipped with an AMD EPYC Processor, features 2 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM, 20 GB SSD storage, a 1 Gbps internet port, along with 3 TB of data transfer capacity per month, and both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address.
About OneProvider
OneProvider offers a service known as OneCloud. This service is a KVM-based virtualization infrastructure with three versions: General Purpose, High Performance, and Storage. Each version caters to different needs and use cases, making OneProvider a versatile choice for various projects.
Let’s start with General Purpose Instances. These instances, powered by SSD, are fast, flexible, and easy to set up. They come in various sizes, ensuring you find the best instance for your needs. Whether you’re hosting a moderate-traffic web server, a small database, or for testing purposes, General Purpose Instances are perfect.
Next, they have High Performance Instances. These instances use Intel Enterprise, AMD EPYC CPUs, and enterprise-grade NVMe. They are bigger, faster, and scalable. High-performance instances are your go-to if you have larger projects, databases, or media streaming needs.
Finally, they also have Storage Instances. Designed for storing large amounts of data, these instances feature high-capacity hard drives and unmetered bandwidth. With redundant disks set, they are perfect for safely hosting or storing all your media assets.
OneProvider Instances has features tailored for you. They offer hourly billing, ensuring you only pay for your active VM. IPv6 is available for future-proofing, streamlined addressing, and enhanced security. The image feature allows you to duplicate your VM or quickly back up. You can add storage to your instance anytime if you run out of space.

Conclusion
In our initial testing phase, the server’s I/O speeds were notably below standard, averaging only 103.7 MB/s across three runs, which is considered poor. However, the network performance was stronger, with high upload and download speeds across multiple global nodes – except for significantly lower speeds and higher latency in Singapore. The Global Node Test highlighted strong connectivity in European and North American regions, indicating robust network capabilities.
Further detailed testing with Yabs and UnixBench showcased a mixed bag in terms of performance. The disk read/write speeds across different block sizes were adequate but not impressive, peaking at 321.59 MB/s. Meanwhile, the UnixBench scores were more promising, indicating a high capacity for handling multiprocessing tasks efficiently, as highlighted by the superior scores when running four parallel copies of tests. Notably, the Geekbench 6 test failed to run, leaving a gap in our CPU performance assessment from this benchmark.
In conclusion, the OneProvider General Purpose Instance demonstrates robust networking performance, particularly in Western regions, but suffers from subpar disk I/O speeds that could impact data-intensive applications. The server’s capability to handle multiple processes simultaneously is a strong point, suggesting that it could be well-suited for environments where multitasking is a regular requirement. However, the failure of the Geekbench test indicates potential unknowns in raw CPU performance, which could require further investigation to provide a comprehensive assessment.
