UpCloud United Kingdom London AMD EPYC General Purpose Cloud Server Test and Review
,
We tested the UpCloud General Purpose Cloud Server in London, which uses an AMD EPYC 7542 32-core Processor. Here’s what it’s packed with a dual-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, 80 GB of ultra-fast NVMe SSD storage, and a 1 Gbps internet connection. It also comes with 4 TB of traffic and IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
Our review covered a range of tests to check everything from basic functions to more advanced features. We ran the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark to gauge its performance. We conducted the Global Node Test to assess internet speeds from various locations and used the Global Ping Test to measure latency.
Finally, we used The Media Unlock Test to check access to different media contents. We also evaluated connection quality with the CloudFlare Internet Test and looked into web performance through PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
Our suite of tests included an evaluation of I/O performance, which consistently showed speeds in the good range, averaging 372 MB/s across multiple runs. Network performance was also tested globally, with results highlighting near-gigabit speeds in most locations, except for notably slower performances in areas like Singapore and parts of China. The latency was excellent in the UK but increased with the geographic distance, peaking in Asian regions.
Complementing these tests, we conducted disk speed tests through Yabs, and the results were quite impressive, especially for mixed read/write operations at larger block sizes exceeding 795 MB/s. We also employed the Geekbench 6 for CPU testing, where the server scored favorably with 1195 in single-core and 2116 in multi-core tests, indicating robust processing power. The comprehensive tests with UnixBench further confirmed these capabilities, showing excellent throughput and capacity to handle parallel processing tasks efficiently.
In conclusion, the UpCloud General Purpose Cloud Server demonstrated strong performance across most benchmarks, making it a reliable choice for various applications. The I/O speeds, network capability, and processing power are all up to the mark for a server of this class. It matches up well for businesses looking for dependable web hosting solutions with global reach, substantial workloads, and data-intensive applications.
