Vultr Netherlands Amsterdam General Purpose Cloud Dedicated Server Test and Review
We recently tested the Vultr Netherlands Amsterdam General Purpose Cloud Dedicated Server to see how it stands up under different conditions. Equipped with an AMD EPYC-Milan Processor, this server has 2 CPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, and 50 GB of NVMe SSD storage. It also boasts a robust 10 Gbps internet connection, up to 5 TB of bandwidth, and includes an IPv4 and an IPv6 address.
We conducted several tests in our review to gauge the server’s performance and capabilities. These included basic benchmarks like Yabs and Unix Benchmark to measure performance, the Global Node Test to check network speeds across different locations, and the Global Ping Test for latency checks.
Our team also ran the Media Unlock Test to assess media access, used the CloudFlare Internet Test to evaluate connection quality, and checked web performance with tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
In terms of performance, the server demonstrated exceptional capabilities across various benchmarks. The average I/O speed over three tests was an impressive 1638.4 MB/s, placing it well into the ‘excellent’ range. The server’s upload and download speeds were particularly noteworthy for connectivity in Amsterdam, where we recorded 8494.45 Mbps upload and 9409.81 Mbps download speeds, with only 1.71 ms of latency. However, performance dipped significantly in distant locations like Singapore and Hong Kong, highlighting the geographic limitations affecting latency and speeds.
The Yabs performance bench reflected high efficiency in disk operations, with mixed read and write speeds peaking at about 4.28 GB/s for mixed operations, illustrating very strong performance. Our thorough Geekbench testing further supported these findings, with the server scoring 1959 in single-core tests, classifying it as ‘good’ by industry standards, and an outstanding 3388 in multi-core tests. The UnixBench scores were equally impressive, especially when running multiple parallel copies of tests, where the system benchmarks index score jumped from 1852.9 to an excellent 2881.3.
