ServerPoint Netherlands Amsterdam ColossusCloud General Purpose VPS Test and Review
We’re currently testing the ServerPoint Netherlands Amsterdam ColossusCloud General Purpose VPS Server. It’s powered by an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v4 @ 2.40GHz Processor and comes equipped with 4 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM, 80 GB of SSD storage, a 1 Gbps internet connection, 4 TB of bandwidth, and a single IPv4 address.
Our review will cover a variety of tests: Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark to see how they perform; the Global Node Test to check network speeds from different locations; and the Global Ping Test to measure response times.
We also used the Media Unlock Test to see which media services it can access, the CloudFlare Internet Test to check the connection quality, and web performance tests using PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Firstly, the portal allows you to deploy anything from web hosting for small websites to bare metal servers or Windows and Linux virtual servers. It’s as simple as choosing the size and amount of RAM, CPU, and SSD disk space you need, selecting from any of their global locations, setting a root/Administrator password, and clicking “Deploy.”
Next, we have Update Central, a feature that makes your life easier by showing how many updates are available for each virtual server. With just one click, all available updates will be installed automatically. This feature saves you time and ensures your server’s operating systems are always up-to-date.
ServerPoint also offers a fully licensed, automated cPanel installation. This popular server management software is designed to easily manage essential server functions and host your websites.
Moreover, the portal provides informative resource usage charts. These charts give insights into what’s happening within your cloud virtual server, including reports about disk space, CPU usage, bandwidth, and more.
Lastly, the portal offers as much automation as possible. You can start, stop, or reboot your cloud virtual server. KVM over IP console access is also available, as well as the ability to re-install the operating system, reset its root/Administrator password, and much more.

Conclusion
In our Basic Bench tests, the server’s I/O speed, critical for data transfer and access speed, averaged 265.7 MB/s, placing it in the mid-range category as it didn’t cross the 500MB/s threshold for a good rating. Network capabilities were tested across multiple global locations, highlighting impressive upload and download speeds, particularly with a speedtest.net result of 1085.04 Mbps download and 499.15 Mbps upload at a very low latency of 1.72 ms. The Yabs Performance Bench assessed disk speed, showing strong read/write capabilities, especially at larger block sizes, achieving up to 710.53 MB/s total, indicating a robust performance for more demanding tasks.
The server’s compute power was evaluated using Geekbench and UnixBench tests. A Geekbench 6 single-core score of 928 falls into the standard range, while a multi-core score of 2978 suggests good processing capabilities. The UnixBench scores provide a deeper insight into CPU and system performance, with the server demonstrating outstanding strengths in script execution and context switching. Specifically, the multi-threaded run showed an exponential increase in performance metrics, notably achieving a system benchmark index score of 3003.0 in the multi-core setting, underlining the server’s excellent capability to handle parallel processes and heavy workloads.
In conclusion, the ServerPoint Netherlands Amsterdam ColossusCloud General Purpose VPS Server shows a well-rounded performance with slightly above-average I/O speeds, excellent network capabilities, and very good computing power. It stands out in handling parallel processing tasks, making it suitable for applications requiring robust computing and network performance. This server is a competitive choice for businesses needing reliable virtual private server hosting with a balance of speed, storage, and processing capability.
