OneProvider Canada Toronto AMD EPYC General Purpose Instance Test and Review

OneProvider Canada Toronto AMD EPYC General Purpose Instance Test and Review

We will review the OneProvider Canada Toronto server with an hourly rate plan. It runs on an AMD EPYC processor and offers 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, 40 GB of SSD storage, a 1 Gbps internet connection, 2 TB of monthly data, and one IPv4 address.

Our team checked its performance using a variety of methods. For basic stats, we used simple benchmarks like Yabs and Unix Benchmark. Network reach and speed were measured through the Global Node and ping tests.

We also checked whether different media services are accessible with the Media Unlock Test and assessed the internet connection quality using the Cloudflare test. For website speed, we relied on PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

About OneProvider

OneProvider’s OneCloud Instances is a versatile and robust solution for various computing needs. They are based on KVM virtualization infrastructure and are available in three versions: General Purpose, High Performance, and Storage.

General Purpose Instances are powered by SSD, making them fast, flexible, and easy to set up. They come in various sizes, allowing you to find the best instance for your needs. These instances are ideal for hosting moderate-traffic web servers like blogs or forums, small databases, or for testing purposes.

High-performance instances use Intel Enterprise and AMD EPYC CPUs and enterprise-grade NVMe. These instances are bigger, faster, and scalable. They offer the flexibility of the cloud with hourly billing and quick deployment without compromises. These instances are perfect for larger projects, databases, or media streaming.

Storage Instances are designed to provide an easy and reliable way of storing large amounts of data. They feature high-capacity hard drives and unmetered bandwidth. With its redundant disk setup, this instance type is perfect for safely hosting or storing all your media assets.

OneCloud Instances are deployable in up to 66 locations connected to 1Gbps ports. This wide range of locations allows for flexibility and ensures your instances are close to your user base.

Payments

OneProvider offers a variety of payment methods for their OneCloud Instances. They accept PayPal, AliPay, Digital Wallet (which includes Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Microsoft Pay), and all major credit card payments. For invoices larger than $500, they also accept SWIFT bank transfers.

You have the flexibility to choose your method of payment for each invoice. You can switch between different payment methods for each billing cycle based on your preference or convenience.

In terms of billing, OneProvider operates on an hourly billing system. This means you are only charged for the hours your virtual machine (VM) is active. An invoice summary is sent on the 1st of every month with a full outline of your usage costs for the previous month.

This flexible and transparent payment and billing system makes it easy to manage your expenses and only pay for what you use. It’s part of OneProvider’s commitment to providing a user-friendly and customer-centric service.

Customer Support

OneProvider’s customer support is designed to be accessible and efficient. They offer a variety of ways for customers to get in touch with them for support or billing cases.

OneProvider uses a system called OnePanel™ for handling support and billing cases. If you have an existing service with them and need assistance, you can open a case through this system. This ensures that your issue is logged and tracked until it’s resolved.

In addition to the OnePanel™ system, OneProvider provides a contact form for sales and general inquiries on its website. This form is not for support or billing cases related to existing services.

Conclusion

Initial tests for disk I/O speeds yielded an average of 890.3 MB/s across three runs, demonstrating solid-state drive efficiency. Network capabilities were also impressive, with the server achieving high speeds and low latency to multiple international locations, the best being within Canada. Speedtest.net showed a stunning upload speed of over 7 Gbps and a download speed of around 1.8 Gbps with an almost negligible latency of 0.38 ms.

The disk performance, tested by Yabs, showed excellent read/write capabilities, especially with larger block sizes, where it achieved over 1.6 GB/s. The Geekbench 6 benchmark revealed scores of 832 for single-core processing and 1499 for multi-core processing, affirming the server’s adequate processing power for general purposes.

The UnixBench results show a robust CPU performance, with significant improvements when comparing single to multi-copy tests. The server proves it can efficiently handle parallel processing tasks with an index score that more than doubled from single (672.8) to multi-copy tests (1210.0).

In conclusion, the OneProvider server in Toronto stands out with its performance and reliability. The strong I/O speeds, commendable network performance, and robust processing power make it an excellent choice for general-purpose hosting needs, especially considering its flexibility in billing. The accompanying tests have highlighted the server as a strong contender for anyone looking for a versatile hosting solution in Canada.
