Katapult United States Phoenix AMD EPYC-Rome CPU Optimized Cloud Server Test and Review
We recently tested the Katapult Cloud Server in Phoenix, USA, which is made especially for tasks requiring lots of computing power. It’s got some serious muscle behind it: AMD EPYC-Rome Processor, 64-core CPU, 192 GB of memory, 1600 GB of SSD storage, 10 Gbps internet connection, 12 TB of traffic, and it comes with IPv4 and IPv6 address.
To put it through its paces, we ran a bunch of tests. First, we looked at how it handles basic tasks with some standard benchmark tests, including Yabs and Unix Benchmark. We didn’t stop there – we also measured its network chops with the Global Node Test and checked how quickly it responded with the Global Ping Test.
Media lovers would be interested in the Media Unlock Test to see what streaming services you can get. The CloudFlare Internet Test gave us insights for those curious about internet quality. Lastly, we wanted to know how well websites would run on this server, so we used tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance to see how fast web pages load and perform.

The Katapult Console is a user-friendly interface that allows you to manage your Katapult services. It is organized into three distinct areas: the header, the left sidebar, and the content area.
Header: The header includes a search function that allows you to search for Katapult services within the current organization. It also includes an organization selector, which enables switching between organizations within your account. Other features in the header include links to your settings, documentation, and a logout link.
Left Sidebar: The left sidebar primarily serves for navigation. The navigation focus will depend on where you are within the Katapult interface. If you are within an organization, you will see navigation items specific to that organization. However, if you are looking at your Katapult account settings, the sidebar will relate to your account. User-level access to the various navigation sections will depend on the role assigned to them.
Content Area: This is where you can manage your services within your organization. The compute pages allow the creation and management of your virtual machines. The storage section provides access to shared disks, disk backup policies, and any custom ISOs you upload to Katapult. The networking section allows you to manage virtual networks, your organization’s IP addresses, domains, etc. The Users & Access section allows you to manage users, define roles, and manage SSH keys.
In addition, the Katapult web console is a lightweight, browser-based terminal permitting shell commands against a given virtual machine. This can be accessed by selecting Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar and then selecting the virtual machine you wish to access the web console for. From the overview page, select Tools -> Console from the menu below the virtual machine hostname. You are now viewing the web console.

Conclusion
In our lineup of tests, the server consistently showed its fast reflexes, especially with I/O operations, clocking in over 800 MB/s – well into the ‘good’ category. Network speeds didn’t disappoint, either. The server strutted its stuff with upload and download numbers that would make any data-heavy user smile, especially in cities like Los Angeles and Tokyo, where it showcased top-notch performance.
The Yabs performance bench swung in with impressive figures. Mixed read-write speeds were through the roof, easily surpassing the 1 GB/s mark, which we call excellent. Meanwhile, the Geekbench 6 scores told a similar story for CPU prowess – a single-core score of 1250 and a multi-core marathon finish of 10822 points towards a robust processor that can handle various tasks without breaking a sweat.
Regarding CPU capability, the UnixBench index score of 1440.6 confirmed that this machine can more than juggle multiple tasks efficiently, making it incredibly versatile for different computing needs.
To wrap it up, the Katapult Cloud Server in Phoenix doesn’t just talk the talk; it walks the walk. Whether it’s I/O speed, CPU performance, or network prowess you’re after, this server delivers on all fronts. It’s a powerhouse well-suited for businesses or individuals needing a high-performing server for demanding applications and data traffic. If performance is what you need, this server is a solid bet.
