Privex United States California AMD EPYC Privacy Protect Virtual Server Test and Review
We recently tried out the Privex US California Privacy-Enhanced Virtual Server. It’s loaded with an AMD EPYC Processor with 8 CPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, a fast 100 GB NVMe SSD, a 200 Mbps internet connection, and one IPv4 and IPv6 address.
For our review, we ran several straightforward tests. We checked its basic speed and power with Standard Benchmarks, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark. Measured network reach with a Global Node Test and ping times with a Global Ping Test.
We used the Media Unlock Test to understand if it can access different regional media. We gauged connection stability with the CloudFlare Internet Test and tested web performance using tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance.
From the brand of Privex
What is Privex?
We are Privex Inc. A small technology company currently focuses on affordable privacy-minded infrastructure, primarily Dedicated and Virtual (VPS) Servers available in various regions worldwide.
At Privex, our services are designed to protect your data without breaking the bank. We promise you’ll be happy with our offerings, and if you’re not, we’ll give you a full refund*
For most of our services, we’ll give you a full refund if you contact us within 14 days of purchase; for claims made past the refund time window, we may offer a partial refund. Please be aware that our refund policy varies depending on the service you purchase. See our order form for more information.
Our beginnings
Privex Inc. was founded in early 2017 in the small country of Belize.
Privex was created to solve an ever-growing problem in the world – privacy has now become a commodity rather than a right, and the price of privacy-minded services is much higher than that of normal services.
Privacy Matters
Many companies handle your information as if it were their property, to be auctioned off to the highest bidder or handed over to Government Agencies for their unlawful and invasive surveillance programs.
Unfortunately, the few companies that care about your privacy generally charge massively inflated premiums that many people can’t afford, or they would rather sacrifice their privacy to save money.
We wanted to change that. Our two slogans are Privacy is Affordable and Privacy Matters because we believe privacy is a human right; you shouldn’t have to pay extra to keep your data safe.
What we offer
As of early 2019, we offer dedicated and virtual servers (VPS) for a price comparable to “normal” hosting providers.
We accept various cryptocurrencies for payment. Unlike certain other hosts, we don’t demand a credit card or PayPal, and we only ask for the bare minimum information required so that we can provide our services to you – a name and an email.

Payments
Privex.io offers a variety of payment methods to cater to the diverse needs of its customers1. Here are some key points about their payment system:
Cryptocurrencies: Privex.io supports a variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), HIVE, HBD, EOS, Dogecoin (DOGE), and Bitcoin (Bitcoin Core – BTC). They process crypto payments with their in-house payment gateway and billing system to maximize your privacy during payment.
Bank Transfers: While they generally prefer customers to pay via cryptocurrency, they can accept domestic or international bank transfers if you pay at least $100 / €100 / £100 or equivalent currency. In some cases, they may levy a fee of 1 to 3% or a flat fee of $1.00 to $20.00, depending on the type of bank transfer and currency.
Payment Process: To pay via Bank Transfer, contact their billing department. You need to tell them which type of bank transfer you’ll be sending (Domestic US, Domestic UK, SEPA, International EU SWIFT, International UK SWIFT, etc.), how much you intend to send, and whether you want the money to be added to your account credit, used to pay an invoice or both. They will then give you their bank account details for the type of transfer you’re making, along with a short reference for you to use so they can easily identify your payment.
Account Top-Up: You can also top up your account balance in advance using their self-service automated Account Top-Up service. Your account credit never expires, and it’s held in USD, so you don’t have to worry about cryptocurrency exchange rates.

They regularly post updates about network maintenance, ongoing issues with their systems or networks, and general updates and promotions. This shows their transparency and their commitment to keeping their customers informed.
Conclusion
When it comes to performance, this server didn’t disappoint. Our basic tests showed data transfer speeds (I/O) consistently above 1.2 GB/s, strong both in the first and subsequent trials. The upload/download tests across various global locations reported impressive speeds, mostly around the 200 Mbps mark for both directions. However, an exception was noticed in Chongqing, China, where the upload and download speeds were significantly lower.
The comprehensive Yabs performance tests demonstrated remarkable capability, particularly with larger block sizes, showcasing read and write speeds hitting 8 GB/s. These speeds indicate the server can handle intense I/O operations with ease. The Geekbench and UnixBench results further certified the server’s CPU prowess, showing it can manage a hefty workload smoothly.
Looking at access to global media services, the server boasts entry to many popular platforms, confirming it as a strong candidate for streaming and accessing media content internationally. However, we noted that services like Viu.com and Spotify registration were out of reach.
In summary, this virtual server from Privex in California is a powerhouse, illustrated by its robust performance in our battery of tests. It’s a versatile beast capable of heavy-lifting with data, also showing its strength in accessing diverse media content sans a few geographical restrictions. If you’re after a quick, reliable, and multimedia-friendly server, this could be a match — especially if your requirements fall within the regions it supports.
