Rackdog United States New York Intel Xeon E5-2690 Bare Metal Dedicated Server Test and Review
We’ve wrapped up testing the Rackdog Bare Metal Dedicated Server hosted in New York. It packs a serious punch with an Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 processor featuring 28 cores and 56 threads, a hefty 64 GB of RAM, 960 GB of speedy NVMe SSD storage, a 10 Gbps internet link, a generous 30 TB data cap, and an IPv4 address.
Here’s the lowdown on the performance tests we ran. We checked how fast and reliable it is with some basic benchmark tests, examined its network strength with a global node test, and measured how quickly it responds with a global ping test.
We used the Media Unlock Test to check if you can access region-locked content. To see how well it connects through Cloudflare, we ran the Cloudflare Internet Test. Finally, we tested how smoothly websites would run on this server with tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix.

Conclusion
In our basic benchmarks, we observed impressive I/O speeds averaging 603 MB/s. The server also demonstrated robust network capabilities, showcasing upload speeds that reached well over 2000 Mbps in Dallas to just below 5 Mbps in Hong Kong, with the latter suffering from a high latency of over 200 ms. Download speeds were similarly variable, reflecting the diverse global connectivity.
Our Yabs Performance tests showed mixed read/write speeds peaking around 977 MB/s for large blocks. According to UnixBench, our server’s performance was markedly high, with an impressive system index score of 1314.5, indicating it can handle demanding tasks.
The server also passed the Media Unlock Test for most of the major streaming services in the US, indicating it’s suitable for content accessibility purposes in that region. Notably, services like Disney+ and Spotify Registration weren’t accessible, pointing to some geo-restrictions.
In conclusion, the Rackdog NY server is a powerhouse, demonstrated by strong benchmark results, especially for speed and CPU performance. Its ability to unlock various media services makes it a viable choice for streaming tasks.
However, there’s room for improvement in global latency and access to all streaming platforms, but these are often influenced by factors beyond the server’s raw performance. This server would be a solid choice for demanding web applications and services requiring high-end performance.
