Shock Hosting Germany Frankfurt Scalable and Affordable Virtual Server Test and Review
We tried Shock Hosting‘s budget-friendly and expandable virtual server in Frankfurt, Germany. It has a 4-core CPU, 8 GB of memory, 120 GB SSD storage, a fast 1 Gbps net connection, 8 TB of data transfer, and an IPv4 and an IPv6 address.
This review is through a series of tests: Basic speed checks. Yabs and Unix Benchmarks to see how it performs on key tasks. Network tests all around the world to measure connectivity. Ping tests to find out how quickly it responds.
Also, we did the Media Unlock Test to check if media content can be accessed in different regions. The CloudFlare Test helped us understand the quality of its connection. Lastly, we used tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix to see how fast web pages load on this server.

Conclusion
Our server testing started with ‘Basic Bench’ speed tests, consistently showing high I/O speeds around 2.1 GB/s. Regarding latency and data throughput, the server’s performance varied significantly by location, peaking with impressive speeds and low latency in European tests, particularly in Paris and Amsterdam. However, as expected, the farther the data traveled, as seen in locations like Shanghai and Hong Kong, the higher the latency we observed.
For disk performance under mixed read/write operations, the server didn’t disappoint, showcasing excellent throughput performance in the ‘Yabs Performance Bench’ with total speeds reaching above 10 GB/s for larger block sizes. Geekbench 6 results reaffirmed the server’s strong performance, with a significant multi-core score of 3006. In the ‘UnixBench’ tests, the server’s computing capabilities were further highlighted, delivering scores that suggest it’s capable of handling a wide range of applications and workloads.
Regarding global accessibility and services, the ‘Media Unlock Test’ revealed that regional services like Dazn, Amazon Prime Video, and TVBAnywhere+ were accessible with the indicated region set to Germany. However, some services like HotStar, Disney+, and Spotify Registration were unavailable. This shows that while the server is well-positioned for diverse multimedia content streaming, it has certain geographical restrictions.
In conclusion, Shock Hosting’s virtual server in Germany demonstrates excellent performance capabilities, especially within European networks. It’s a strong contender for businesses and individuals needing high-speed data processing and storage. While it offers solid media accessibility in some areas, potential customers should be aware of regional limitations for certain services. The server’s robust features and reliable performance make it a valuable option for various hosting needs.
