Let’s take a look at the Linode server in Jakarta, Indonesia. This server uses a powerful AMD EPYC 7713 chip with 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of RAM. It has an 80 GB SSD for storage, a fast 4 Gbps internet connection, and allows for 4 TB of data transfer. You also get one IPv4 and one IPv6 address.
Our team ran several tests to see how it performs. We checked its basic power and speed, network performance worldwide, and how quickly it responds to commands from different locations.
We also tested how well it can access regional content, how stable its internet connection is, and how quickly it loads webpages using tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance.

Linode is a popular cloud provider offering various services, including Compute Instances. A Compute Instance, often referred to as a Linode, is essentially a virtual machine that runs on Linode’s secure and reliable cloud infrastructure. These instances are designed to handle any cloud-based workload, making them a versatile tool for many applications.
Creating a Compute Instance involves several steps, each allowing you to customize the instance to your needs. The first step is to open the Create Form in the Cloud Manager. You can choose a Distribution, App, or Image for your instance.
The Distribution option lets you select from any supported Linux distribution, allowing you to start with a stable Linux operating system and build your software stack from scratch. Popular distributions include the latest LTS releases of Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS Stream, and RHEL derivatives like AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux.
The App option allows you to select from the many Apps currently featured in the Linode Marketplace. This installs and configures your desired software, allowing you to use your applications immediately. Popular apps include WordPress, WooCommerce, LEMP, cPanel, Plesk, and Nextcloud.
The Image option lets you select from any Custom or Recovery Image stored on your account. Recovery Images are generated after a Compute Instance has been deleted, and Custom Images can be created based on existing instances or image files.
Select a Region for your instance after choosing a Distribution, App, or Image. The next step is to choose an Instance Type and Plan. Linode offers several plan types, each with its own set of resources, unique value propositions, and technical specifications.

Payments
Linode offers a hybrid hourly billing model that is both simple and flexible. This model allows you to continuously add, modify, and remove services throughout the month. At the end of the month, you receive an invoice for the hourly usage of each service up to the monthly cap.
Every paid service Linode offers has a predictable monthly rate (called the monthly cap) and a flexible hourly rate. When a service is added, charges accrue on the account at the hourly rate up to the monthly cap. These accrued charges are displayed on the Billing Info tab within the Account page of the Cloud Manager.
If your services stay the same month over month, your bill remains predictable. You are never billed more than the monthly rate for each service, excluding network transfer overages. If you use a service for just part of the month, hourly billing only enables you to be charged for the time the service is on the account.
When an invoice is generated, the default payment method on the account is automatically charged within a few hours. If you wish to pay in advance, you can make a one-time payment. You can manually add funds to your account at any time. Manual payments can be used to pay an outstanding balance or prepay for future services.

Conclusion
The first test, the Basic Benchmark, showed impressive I/O speeds with an average of 1570.1 MB/s, indicating swift read and write operations. It also exhibited strong network performance with high upload and download speeds across various global locations. However, connection quality varied with the region – with lower speeds in Hong Kong and excellent speeds in Tokyo and Singapore.
The more in-depth Yabs Performance Bench examined mixed read/write operations and confirmed the server’s potent disk performance, with total speeds reaching 7.62 GB/s on large block transfers. Geekbench results displayed strong processing capabilities, with single and multi-core scores of 1260 and 2244, respectively. In the UnixBench tests, the server demonstrated increasing efficiency as the workload scaled up, especially in tasks like file copying and process creation, which are crucial for heavy-duty server use.
Regarding media accessibility, our Media Unlock Test revealed mixed results, with successful content access in the Indonesian region for services like Dazn, YouTube Premium, and Amazon Prime Video. However, there were limitations for platforms like HotStar, Disney+, and Spotify, which were not fully accessible.
